"Touring often means going from city to city like a vacuum cleaner salesman, trying to sell your product: the same show, the same speech, a tight schedule.
Playing, eating, sleeping - moving on.

What is often lost in the process are real points of contact with the people, the musicians, and the culture of the place you are in.

Collaborative Touring is an attempt to break open this system.
Instead of the established, self-contained and exclusive concert format, an open touring concept emerges - one that not only allows encounter, experimentation and openness, but is built upon them.

For a period of one month, I travel to another country and engage intensively in advance with the artists based there.
Some of them I invite to perform or record with me for the first time. These collaborations are not a supporting program, but an integral part of the tour.
The invited artists are presented to venues together with me, and ideally concerts take place in their respective cities.
Each show thus becomes unique, site-specific, and shaped by the people involved.

Open venues create an open audience.
An open audience enables free music.

Collaborative Touring does not understand touring as product presentation, but as a collective process — open, situational, and in dialogue with local scenes."

Alvaro Rosso

Moved by an interest for uruguayan (his home country) popular music and jazz, Alvaro began playing the electric bass, but soon turned to the double bass, starting his studies at the University School of Music of Montevideo, making contact with classical music and the basic technique of the instrument. The interest in learning and deepening his knowledge of the double bass takes him to France, where he continued his studies. Also in France, having classes with professors like Stephan Olvia or Jean-Marc Foltz, Alvaro begins developing his interest in contemporary language and free improvisation. After a master’s degree in Spain focused in the double bass’ contemporary repertoire, extended techniques and experimentation, he moves to Portugal, where he currently lives and works.
